Managing Attorney
Bill is a seasoned attorney with deep expertise in patent law and a broad legal background that supports businesses at every stage of growth. Before joining our team, he served as the managing attorney for a patent prosecution group at a boutique IP law firm in Virginia, where he was recognized by Samsung Display as one of the top practitioners in both patent preparation and prosecution.
His patent practice includes extensive experience prosecuting utility and design patent applications across a wide range of technologies, including display devices, semiconductors, CPUs, memory, image processing, 3D printing, aviation systems, medical devices, renewable energy, communication systems, e-commerce, blockchain, and artificial intelligence.
Beyond patents prosecution, Bill is experienced in trademark prosecution, helping clients secure brand protection through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and facilitating enrollment in the Amazon Brand Registry. He also provides legal support in trade secret protection, copyright matters, and a wide range of business legal needs.
Bill has experience in IP litigation, including drafting a petition to institute an inter partes review (IPR) and a responsive brief to an IPR petition. He has also drafted portions of pre-trial orders and jury instructions for complex claims, such as trade secret misappropriation, and assisted in trial preparation by reviewing, selecting, and organizing exhibits to strengthen legal arguments.
Bill has served as general counsel to various startups and growing companies, advising on day-to-day legal operations, risk management, and strategic planning. He offers comprehensive support in business immigration, tax consultation, and mergers and acquisitions. He also counsels clients on business formation and incorporation, ensuring proper legal structure, governance, and compliance from inception onward. His practice further extends to real estate transactions and general commercial law.
Bill earned his JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and his BS in Electronic Engineering from Sogang University in Seoul, Korea. He is licensed to practice in District Columbia and New York and before the USPTO (limited recognition).
*As a pro bono service, Bill offers consultation in the field of special education, assisting families and educators in developing and navigating individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of students with learning difficulties. His guidance supports inclusive educational practices and ensures that students receive the accommodations and services necessary for their academic and personal growth.
